On 11-15-08 three members tested for 3 hours with Black Belt Joe Diamond for their Blue Belts.

We are pleased to announce our newest Blue Belts: Steve Perez, Dain Dixon, and Carlos Perez.

Congratulations guys!!!

8-2-08 Congratulations to Millville BJJ for placing 5th in the Gi division at NAGA battle at the beach.

We are very proud of all of our competitors and the only teams placing ahead of us in the standings were those with multiple affiliates that add into the combined score.  So it's quite a testiment to the hard work from our little school here in Millville!!!

4-5-08  Congratulations to the Millville BJJ team for placing 4th at the NAGA World Championships!

On April 5th and 6th, Millville BJJ competed at the NAGA World Championships.  We took a small team of only 11 competitors and walked away with

12 medals.  It is an amazing accomplishment for a school that is only a year old with no affiliates.  All of our competitors fought their hearts out win or lose

and we are so very proud of them.  We were beaten in the team standings by much larger teams with multiple affiliate schools.

Following are the competitors who placed:

Dain Dixon (15 years old)- 3rd place Adult white belt

November 17-18th

NAGA North American Grappling Championships

Millville BJJ took only 8 competitors to this NAGA event.  We placed 9th out of over 75 teams competing.  I am so impressed with all of our team members.  For such a small, new school to place above so many larger established schools is a testament to our system and the hard work of all our members.  Every competitor at the competition placed.

October 6th:

Millville BJJ took 7 grapplers to The Grappler's Quest North American Championship in Jersey City New Jersey. We came away with 5 first place medals and one second place medal. Individual results:

Connor Dixon- 1st place

Dain Dixon-1st place Teens Advanced Division-Won championship belt

Tim Williams-tore through his divisions as usual winning both his intermediate division and the BJJ Blue Belt division. Tim had a total of seven matches, submitting every one of his opponents. Tim even had a submission victory in 7 seconds (and I think it took them a few seconds to hit the button). Tim is progressing under our system very well. There are great things in his future.

Dan Dixon stepped up to compete in the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Brown Belt level. In his first match he faced off against an excellent grappler named Dan Simmler (see SimmlerBJJ.com) Dan managed to go the 9 minute distance with the multiple time PanAm medalist but was beaten on points. In Dan's second match he faced off against Matt Serra Brown Belt, Nick Safar. Dan said Nick felt like locking up with a stone statue, Nick was so strong. The match was a slow paced match with Dan maintaining side control much of the match. Dan finally submitted Nick with his signature Kesa Gatame compression lock.

Carlos Perez lost his first match in a closely fought decision that went into overtime. The score was 2-0. Carlos is a NAGA champion and I see great things in his future.

David Tunstall-this was David's first competition. He had 67 men competing in his division. David lost a very close match 6-5 by points. David got the crowd cheering with an incredible Drop Seio Nage that sent his opponent crshing to the mat. David is on the way to being another Millville BJJ champion.

7/21/07-Cage of Vengeance

Tim Williams and the Millville BJJ team traveled to the Cage of Vengeance Mixed Martial Arts contest in Egg Harbor, NJ.  Tim Wiliams was up against a large powerful looking kickboxer named Mario Talley.  As Tim entered the cage the audience, packed with Tim Williams fans, went crazy. As the fight began both fighters charged at eachother ready to give their best.  They exchanged a fury of punches, as Tim pressed the action and clinched against the cage with his opponent.  Tim caught a knee in the stomach but was unaffected.  They unclinched briefly and exchanged another fury of punches.  Tim caught his opponent with a right cross and followed right away with a left hook.  Tim went for the takedown and grabbed his opponents left leg behind the knee.  They went to the mat and his opponent tried to take his back, but Tim pulled the leg in and went into his opponents guard.  Tim reached back behind his opponent's knee and used a stacking pass to pass his opponents guard.  He then maintained side control and went right to the mount.  Tim was holding the top position when his opponent reached his arm out to push him away.  Tim grabbed the arm and began to lock it in for an arm bar.  His opponent turned and Tim turned with him with a vice grip on the arm.  Tim turned face down arched his back and cranked on the arm.  His opponent tapped ad that was that.  Congrats to Tim on his impressive performace!!!

6/23/07-TOURNAMENT UPDATE: 6/23/07 DIAMOND STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS

On 6/23/07 we traveled to Bear, Delaware to the Diamond State Submission Wrestling/Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu championships.
We took 4 competitors Victor Kohanski, Tim Williams, Dain Dixon and Dan Dixon.
With only two months training experience Victor Kohanski took second place in the White Belt division. His first fight he won with an excellently applied collar choke. In his second match he edged out and experienced grappler in points. Victor lost his third match on points to a strong competitor. We see good things in Victor's future!

Tim Williams won third place in the Intermediate No-gi division, first place in the 190-205lb blue belt division, and 1st place in the 205-220lb blue belt division. With only 10 months grappling experience Tim Wiliams is dominating his weigh class!

Dain Dixon gets our "Heart of a Lion" award. Dain just turned 15 at the beginning of June. There were no 15-17 year olds in Dain's weight so he was bumped up to the adult divisions. Dain fought a strong adult in his first fight. Dain threw his opponent in the first few seconds of the fight but could not maintain control. He fought his way out of a rear naked choke and took the fight the distance. Congratulations to Dain on his impressive performance.

Dan Dixon placed third in the 190-205 pound Purple Belt division.
Congratulations to the most succesful grappling team in South Jersey. 3 adult competitiors and 5 medals!!!

COME TRAIN WITH CHAMPIONS!!!
