Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) sometimes refered to as No Holds Barred (NHB) fighting or Cage Fighting, has become quite popular in the United States since the advent of the Ultimate Fighting Championships (UFC) in 1993.

Mixed Martial Arts encompasses all forms of combat.  Virtually any style of fighting can be used in these competions.  Contrary to popular belief however, these contests have a very strict set of rules the contestants must follow.  These competions are highly regulated by the states they take place in.  Many experts actually believe they may be safer than boxing because in boxing the boxers suffer round after round of head trauma since they use larger gloves.

Of all the syles of martial arts used in MMA, one stood out among all others as wildly more effective than any others: Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.  Brazilian Jiu Jitsu neutralized the striking techniques of the strikers and fighters with a wrestling background did not know how to deal with the submissions of BJJ.

Today things have changed.  To be a good MMA fighter you must cross-train in BJJ, Boxing, wrestling, and Muay Thai kick boxing. It is our opinion however that when building anything, a great foundation is needed.  An essential part of any MMA training MUST be Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

At Millville Brazilian Jiu Jitsu you will learn MMA techniques from Tim Williams.  Tim Williams is a Blue Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.  He was the number one rated Blue Belt in the entire country in 2007. Tim is a 5 time Grappler's Quest champion and 5 time NAGA champion. He is currently 5-0 in Mixed Martial Arts fighting and holds TWO championship titles.  He is the Cage of Vengeance Heavyweight champion and the Combat in the Cage cruiserweight champion. Tim is 3-0 in amature boxing and 2-0 in Muay Thai. You won't find anyone in the area who trains harder than and has been as successful as Tim Williams.

 

Tim teaches MMA classes on Thursday nights at 8pm and Saturday mornings at 11:30am.

In these classes you will learn to mesh striking and grappling techniques together to make your fighting game solid.  Even if you never want to fight in the cage, the conditioning workout that is a part of the class will get you in tremendous physical condition.  Many of our students have lost 20 pounds in the first month alone.

So whether you want to be a world champion cage fighter or just look like one, our MMA class is for you!
